Hi All,

Anyone interested in this: http://www.focusedevents.com/car_event_info.asp?ID=148
Description:
Fantastic circuit - one of the best circuits in the country - it's got it all from banked corners to blind crests, constant elevation changes, fast and slow corners and goes on for ever. One of the Greats!

It's £235 and £25 for an additional driver, looks like passengers go free.
Christian

are you doing this christian?

i have to admit i am tempted......but its MILES away- 4hrs 45 mins from Plymouth

i cant help but notice that trackdays.co.uk lists angelsea on the friday 6th.....which is just 2 hours drive from Outlon- may justify the long drive a little?

Have you driven Outlon before? Whats it like? Youtube vids- it looks quite fun- but nothing like as good as Cadwell- although that is 6hrs 15 from Plym

Hi Village,

I'm not so sure I can do this now, It's a great circuit but it will be expensive due to the distance. It's going to be 2 tanks of diesel and a overnight stay on top of the cost of the trackday.

I'm now thinking I'll do Colerne again, there and back in a day so no hotel needed and only 1 tank of diesel for the Audi, and the trackday itself is less than half the price of Oulton. I really need to start saving some pennies as I'm getting desperate for more HP in the 7 :!:

Ah

have you got a trailer for your 7 then? Probably far wiser to tow the 7!

More HP huh? Sounds like a plan........getting somewhere between R300-R400 spec would be ideal IMO. Too powerful and your too fast and just waiting for ppl to pull over for you, but the extra horses should give you far more overtaking abilty and a bit more top speed?? What kind of £ are you looking at for the extra power??

I know Colerne has an event on the 24th of this month- but i cant make it!! Got a work thing!!

However, Llandow has an event on Sun 1st Aug- similar distance to Colerne (3hrs 15 from plym, colerne is 2 hrs 45), a small twisty track so should be very 7/elise friendly! :D Fancy it??

Failing that, Colerne on the 14th Aug would be good for me?

I can only do weekends really

Hi Village,

Yes I've got a trailer you must have seen it at Colerne last year :?:

Spa really highlighted the need for more HP, it's such a power circuit my poor little 7 was running out of puff. First thing I need to do is get rid of my crap 4 into 1 exhaust, a 4 into 2 into 1 without a cat is 1200 quid on Caterhams website then get a set of piper verniers and time the cams properly is about as much as I can afford this year

Colerne on the 14th sounds ok to me.

bloody hell £1200 for an exhaust.....how much BHP will this liberate? Given how few miles you drive, surly a 2nd hand one would be ok? do they not tend to crop up on blatchat now & then?? Be careful it doesn't break the noise limits for track days :?

how much are the piper verniers and cams? what BHP will this liberate?

lets pencil the 14th in then and confirm nearer the time! :D [UP] wonder if Dave will be up for it?

I didn't even spot your Audi & trailer- as a 7 owner you are, by definition, eccentric at the least and quite possibly slightly nutty......so i just assumed you drove the 7 all the way up to Colerne!

Hi Greg,

Just re looking at the Caterham online store I was looking at the wrong exhaust, I think the one I need will be 535 quid but I'm going to have to give them a call to confirm. Verniers seem to be about 170 quid plus fitting. I'm not sure how much power that will give to be honest. I think the factory figures for a 1800 K supersport is 145 bhp but I think that's probably optimistic. Losing the cat and fitting the verniers might actually give me that figure. Maybe next year get the head flowed, an emerald ecu and some throttle bodies, should make 160 bhp ok. But that's going to cost about 3k I would think.

Have a look here http://www.dvapower.com/

£500 thats more like it!

Have you driven a 160-190 BHP 7 for comparison? I def think sticking with the K series is the right option :D

im hunting for an S1 exige now- it may well take 6 months to find one though! [%-)]

Hi Christian and greg :wavey:

Colerne on the 14th would be OK for me.

Having just had my power boost fix (thanks DVA) I know what you mean Christian , even with the extra I still wanted more at Spa especially.

Dave

Hi Dave / Greg,

Shame about the weather but it was good fun all the same, I think I may invest in a tyre rack for the trailer and get a spare set wheels with a set of AO21rs for days like that. I need to get some new boots for my current wheels first though, I'm not road legal anymore
